  • How do I access Peer Support?

The Jury Duty Peer Support service is a pilot program being offered in British Columbia, and is currently not available to residents outside of the Province.

Peer Support is only available to jurors after they have been fully discharged from jury duty.

Peer Support is not available to jurors actively serving in court.

Peer Support is available to former jurors in British Columbia, or having served on a Criminal or Civil Trial, or a Coroner’s Inquest while residing in the Province at the time.

  • What is Peer Support?

Peer Support is not psychological therapy.

Peer Support is emotional and practical support between two individuals who share a common experience.

Our volunteer Peer Supporters are all former jurors who have lived through similar experiences and are trained to support other jurors after their jury service concludes.

Peer Supporters provide support, listen, understanding, and offer hope.

  • Talking about jury duty

Peer Supporters are not counselors or therapists.

A juror cannot discuss trial deliberation details during peer support, decision-making, or the events that occurred during deliberation to reach a verdict.

Jurors can discuss the emotional impact of jury duty, or personal issues that arose out of their service in court.

All peer support sessions are free and confidential.
